John was born December 14, 1940, in Kendallville, Indiana. He graduated from Muncie Central High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Economics from Purdue University. He studied at John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. John served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1971 where he served in the Supply Corps and Nuclear Reactors under Admiral Rickover. She used to say, "If there was something faster than fast forward, they'd call it Jean." She barreled through life with curiosity, determination and an adventurous spirit. That spirit lives on in all who knew her. Five weeks after celebrating her 99th birthday with cake and champagne, Jean died September 1, 2023, at her home near Elbert, Texas. Her story starts in 1947 when her folks, sharecroppers, Hillery and Lillian Gene Adams, left the cotton fields of Texas with her " much older" sister Delilah, for Marysville, California. Nancy was born later that year on December 19, 1947. Her given middle name was Dale, as in Dale Evans. For the first few years they lived in a box car at Dantoni Orchard, the largest pear orchard in the world, alongside the extended Adams family, who also had moved from Texas. The oldest of four, Laura was born in Yakima, Washington to Henry A and Marie (Ludwig) Schultz on August 11, 1923. She spent her early years in Yakima where she graduated from Yakima High School in 1941. On April 8, 1942, Laura married William "Bill" Brader in Wichita Falls, Texas. From this union came three children: Beverley, James and Lori. Laura and Bill moved to Prosser in 1949 when Bill's application to the Northern Pacific Railroad was accepted.
