THE FIREFLY STORY
Martin McGeough, a qualified podiatrist, set up the Belfast Foot Clinic in 1989 after gaining extensive career experience practicing podiatry at home and in the United States. In 2003 he and his wife Jill moved to Leitrim where they set up Firefly to supply 'custom made'' orthotics to the podiatric profession across the UK and Ireland.
The Belfast Foot Clinic was rebranded as Firefly Foot & Ankle Clinic and grew to incorporate clinics in Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Sligo where the company is now headquartered.

WHAT OUR PATIENT'S SAY
Am I impressed with Firefly? Totally! I've told everyone about Firefly, because people can'tbelieve the changes in Josh. From not being able to stand, to now being able to run!
Aileen, mother of Josh (6) with Cerebral Palsy
As an athlete who was experiencing severe Achilles pain, I thought the injury would forceme to quit running. After a consultation with Firefly, I was fitted with orthotics that haveeradicated the pain and given me the confidence to train more often and run faster.
Michael, amateur runner, Sligo
Firefly were the first to actually explain what the problem was with my ankles and give metreatment that works without medication. When I first went to Firefly, my ankles wereswollen, red and very painful, but now I'm back to walking up the stairs and hill walking atweekends.
Carolyn, Dublin
Firefly have played a pivotal role in my recovery from injury, in which I missed an entireseason. I had problems with my biomechanics and foot plant which have been resolved afterwearing Firefly's orthotics. Firefly also provide different orthotics for my spikes and racingflats which are beneficial to my performance and most importantly prevent injury.
Paul Robinson, 1,500m athlete for Ireland and Nike
I highly recommend the services they provide. Being an International Steeplechase athlete I can cover up to 75/80 miles per week. Having very flat arches has been a problem for me in the past and I have experienced many lower limb injuries. However with the support from Adam my orthotics have kept many of these injuries at bay.I use many different terrains for my training so Adam has developed different orthotics for me to use. Having a custom made pair especially for my spikes has made a huge difference and I don't even notice that they are there. Addressing my running mechanics has played a crucial part in maintaining an injury free season. With Adam’s support, I have been able to make slight changes to my running technique knowing that my fore foot running style was an element in my achilles flare-ups.It's fantastic that I can get this service locally in Northern Ireland.
Kerry O'Flaherty, International Steeplechase Athlete
After having considerable pain in the balls and joints of my feet for 3/4 months I purchased a consultation with Greg from Firefly where casts were taken of my feet. On my next visit insoles were placed in my shoes. I am delighted to say that within a couple of days the pain had subsided quite considerably and whilst there was soreness this too continued to decrease. After less than six weeks I was walking much better and without pain. I would have no hesitation in recommending a visit to the clinic even if only for an assessment.
Dan Donnelly, Belfast
I have always found Adam to be an excellent podiatrist who regularly provides expert biomechanical assessment for my clients. I have found him to be someone who is willing to explore every option for the athletes he works with and consider all diagnoses. Not only does he provide excellent orthotic devices, he will carefully assess the athletes running gait, advising and implementing changes that can make a great difference to treatment success.
Alan Rankin, Sports and Exercise Medicine (Consultant)
I was suffering regular problems with my feet, in particular my arches and couldn’t work out what the problem was. Thanks to Adam I got my problem sorted immediately with all different types of orthotics for dress shoes, casual shoes and importantly golf shoes. As I report at a lot of golf tournaments it was imperative I didn’t encounter any problems on the fairways! Thanks for the first class service – great stuff!

Following repeated Injuries to my foot I was referred to Podiatry. Adam worked through my season schedule making sure any treatments or changes didn't affect my tournament preparation. With a specific strengthening regime, change in footwear and my orthotics I have been able to achieve highly this season. With foot or ankle problems I wouldn't go anywhere else.
